I wanted to give the kids something that would help them remember the lesson so I decided to make these fun DIY mini heart shaped soaps for them to take home and use!
They were super easy and cheap to make!
Materials:
Ivory Soap (From what I understand this is the only brand of soaps that works for this).
Food coloring
Water
Microwave
Parchment paper or microwave safe dinner plate
Bowl and spoon
Small heart shaped cookie cutter
This is what I did:
Place 1 bar or Ivory soap over the parchment paper or plate in the Microwave on high for 1 minute.
Take a peek, it's fun to see how the bar of soap transforms into this amazing fluffy cloud!
Take the "cloud" out of the microwave (careful, because it will be hot).
Let it cool down a minute or two, then place inside a big bowl. You could let your kids crumble the cloud into a fine dust, but I personally did not enjoy inhaling the fine soapy powder, so I did this part myself and outdoors with my mouth covered :)
Once you've made it into powder, you can start adding a few drops of water. A little at a time until you can form a uniform dough. Be careful, too much water can make a gooey mess that will be heart to roll. At this point you can also add a drop or two of your favorite food coloring.
Roll the soap "dough" and cut out the hearts.
Allow them to dry overnight over a plate and you are done!
I've also included a free printable label that you can download here. The labels measure 4.25x2" approximately (when cut and folded). You can use these labels with the clear cello bags you find at crafts stores and even the dollar store.
